Hydrangea
Hydrangea have experienced a resurgence in popularity over recent years, partly due to the pretty new varieties that have been bred by nurseries but also because of their enduring attractiveness. They create a large shrub that has a profusion of flowers all summer, these often change colour throughout the season and it is also determined by the type of soil where you live. The same plant can have pink flowers in the chalky, alkaline soils of the south and blue flowers in the peaty, acid soils of the north. Varieties include Hydrangea macrophylla, with large mop-head flowers or dainty paniculata varieties as well as lace-caps.
