This ornamental variety is Epimedium grandiflorum 'Lilafee' the common name is 'Bishop's Mitre' or 'Barrenwort'. It is a clump-forming perennial with heart-shaped, green leaves, copper-red and brown when young. It has violet-purple flowers with spurs. It grows to about 30 cm height, thriving in partial shade. Supplied as sections of bare roots, it will not come in a pot or container but wrapped up in a bag for protection. To plant it simply dig a hole, place the root in with the bud just showing above the surface, back-fill with soil then firm down and water well. You can buy one, two or three budding root sections with this order.
