Sanguisorba obtusa or Japanese Burnet is one of the most ornamental Burnets with mounds of grey crimped foliage and tall branching stems with red bottle-brush flowers in summer. These plants are supplied as 'bare roots', meaning they do not come in a pot or container but the roots are bare and ready to plant, ideally in the dormant season. Simply dig a hole, place the root in it, back-fill with soil, firm over and water. You can buy one, two or three budding sections of bare root with this order.
